Peugeot 207

The Peugeot 207 is a supermini class car produced by the French manufacturer in January 2006. It is a modified successor to the popular Peugeot 206. The model's UK launch on the 8th June 2006 unfortunately coincided with the launch of a campaign, by Amicus and TGWU, to boycott both Peugeot and Citroen vehicles, because of the planned closure of the Ryton manufacturing plant. Despite these actions the Peugeot 207 sales continued to grow in the United Kingdom. Production of the car moved to manufacturing plants located in Poissy, France, and in Trnava, Slovakia. Peugeot 207 cars were first introduced to markets in France, Spain and Italy, but their launch was later extended to include markets throughout most of Europe as well as Israel and Arabic countries.

The Peugeot 207 comes in several body designs including a three or five door hatch back, a coupe convertible version, and a station wagon version. The original engine design versions have been replaced and updated as a result of a cooperative agreement between PSA and BMW. The range now includes a petrol engine, a diesel powered engine, and a turbo charged and intercooled engine version of the model, with capacities of 1.4 litres and 1.6 litres.

The Peugeot 207 has featured prominently on several 'top ten' selling lists in Britain for many years. It has also appeared on the 'top ten' list of cars that best retain their value. Used Peugeot 207 cars are a popular choice, and the model is still very much in demand. In 2009, Peugeot secured the top three qualifying positions for the Le Mans race; in celebration of which, it was decided to release a special edition model of the 207, to be known as the Le Mans Series. Peugeot went on to take both first and second place in the actual race.
